The Mysterious End of Benjamin Boyd

A Legacy Squandered

At the height of Empire in 1841 the Scottish born aristocrat and adventurer, Benjamin Boyd, sets sail for Australia in his schooner, the Wanderer, commissioned by the British government to establish The Royal Bank of Australia.

Laden in the hold of his ship was one million pounds in gold, equivalent of forty million pounds in today's money. Provided a unique chance to establish a lasting legacy as one of the greatest early founders of modern Australia, Boyd instead squanders his opportunities when seven years later he becomes a fugitive from the law hunted throughout the Pacific by the Royal Navy.

Now, 175 years later he will be forever remembered as a slaver, fraudster, thief and murderer........ and a man without a grave.
