After the disappearance of his mother in 1960 at the age of seven, later tormented by a brutal Catholic education, Daniel Hannaford battles demons until, late in life, he takes a job on a Caribbean Island.
There he meets a Jamaican woman where they witness a horrific attack perpetrated by the son of a British Lord. Pursued to kill them for what they had seen, the couple are drawn together by fear, murder, and love.
